ORIGINS OF CANCER SYMPOSIUM

In 1859, Charles Darwin published the Origin of Species that has since been recognized not only as a seminal scientific work, but also a landmark of modern thought that has far-reaching consequences. For cancer researchers, the principle of Natural Selection in which variation that confers a survival advantage will be inherited by offspring has itself been adapted to explain the dynamic cellular changes that occur during tumor progression.

The mission of the Foundation for Advanced Cancer Studies Inc. (FACS) is to accelerate and facilitate the flow of cancer research information from the laboratory to scientists, clinicians, and the public and to promote support for scientists working in basic cancer research laboratories.

Origins of Cancer is a one-day symposium sponsored by the Foundation for Advanced Cancer Studies and presented by the Van Andel Institute which brings together medical and research experts from around the country to discuss the origins of cancer.

The Foundation for Advanced Cancer Studies (FACS) would like to thank everyone for their participation in the 2010 Origins of Cancer Symposium. With over three hundred and fifty registered guests, the second annual Origins of Cancer Symposium was a tremendous success. Thank you again to all of our invited speakers and everyone who participated.
